대구의 근대 역사를 한 눈에 볼 수 있는 대구근대역사관에서 ‘근대의료도시 대구展’이 열린다고 해요. 이번 전시는 지난 4월 9일부터 시작해 6월 30일까지 열리게 된답니다.
입장료는 ‘무료’ !!

대구는 조선시대부터 의학의 중심지였어요. 약령시가 번창함에 따라 한의사와 한약상들이 대구로 모여들었고, 경상감영에서는 허준의 동의보감을 두 차례에 걸쳐 간행하기도 했답니다.
또 영남지방의 의사는 충청도에 거주하고 있는 의사에게 종두법을 가르치기도 했을 정도로 의료 기술이 발달했었구요,
1889년에는 이재하가 대구에 천연두를 예방하는 기관 ‘우두국’을 설치하고 종두를 실시하며 ‘제영신편’이라는 서적을 펴내기도 했는데요. 지방에서 자체적으로 간행한 우두서라는 측면에서 큰 의의를 가진 이 책 역시, 근대의료전시 대구전에서 보실 수 있답니다.

대구 근대의료가 도입하게 된 배경에는 선교사와 일본인들이 있답니다.
현재 대구 동산의료원의 근원지인 대구제중원은 대구 최초의 근대병원이었는데요,
미국 예수교 북장로파 선교의사인 우드브리지 존슨이 대구로 부임한지 2년만인 1899년 12월에 문을 열었다고 해요.
이를 기점으로 1910년에는 현재 경북대병원인 자혜의원이 통감부에 의해 설립되고, 이때부터 내과, 외과, 산부인과, 안과, 치과 등 부서가 신설되어 근대식 진료가 시작되었답니다.

이후 1911년 제중원은 동산기독병원으로 이름을 바꾸었고, 1913년에는 나병원을 설립, 1927년에는 외래 진료소를 신축하면서 단과병원 운영방식을 벗어나 종합병원 체계로 전환했어요.

그러다.. 1933년, 의학전문학교인 대구의학강습소가 생겨나게 됩니다.

당시 대구의학강습소의 졸업생들은 별도의 의사자격 시험없이 의사면허가 주어졌다고 하는데요. 의학전문학교의 입학경쟁률은 평균 9대1이었다고 해요. 졸업생은 모두 841명으로 한국인이 274명, 일본인 564명, 대만인이 3명이었다고 해요. 당시엔 서울과 대구, 평양에만 의학전문학교가 있었답니다. ^^

5월17일~ 황금연휴와 함께 힘차게 시작한 대구 동성로 축제!
대구 동성로 축제 첫날! 현장을 급습해서 즐겁게 축제를 즐기다 왔는데요. ^^
올해 대구 동성로 축제는 24회를 맞았답니다. 젊은이들은 물론 나이 많으신 어르신까지 많은분들이 동성로를 찾아주셨어요.
동성로 곳곳에는 다양한 체험부스들이 가득가득! ^^
우리 아이들은 쿠키 만들기 삼매경에 푹~~
수공예 체험으로 작품도 직접 만들어봅니다. ^^
동성로 거리 한복판에서는 버스킹 공연이 한창~~
또 다른 곳에서는 연인, 혹은 친구와~ 어르신까지.. 자신의 모습을 캐리커쳐로 담아내기 위해.. 북적 북적~
어디선가 아름다운 소리가 들리길래.. 가보았더니!
우쿨렐레 공연이~ 우리 어머니들.. 똑같이 옷 맞춰 입고 우쿨렐레 예쁘게도 켜고 계십니다.
신나는 게임 부스도 빠질 수 없죠! 엄마, 아빠와 함께 재미있는 게임에도 참여해봅니다. ^^

동성로가요제는 가수 데뷔의 기회도 가질 수 있을정도로 유명하죠.. 우수한 실력을 가진 젊은이들이 많이 참여해주었답니다. ^^

오후 4시 30분부터는 동성로축제의 하이라이트죠! ‘경상감사도임순력 교인식’도 있었답니다.
경상감사도임순력 교인식이란,
새로 부임한 경상감사가 백성들의 생활상을 둘러보기 위해 도내 행정기관을 순회하던 행차를 재연한 것인데요.
1601년부터 310년 간 253명의 관찰사가 근무했던 대구의 역사성을 엿볼 수 있는 중요한 행사랍니다.
무려 120여 명으로 구성된 경상감사 행렬이 총 2.6km의 거리를 퍼레이드!!
지나다니는 사람들의 시선이 모두 집중될 정도로 무척 화려했었어요~~. ^o^
또한 신구감사의 업무 인수인계식이었던 교인식도 직접 선보였답니다.
젊음의 열기가 고스란히 느껴지는 동성로에서! 과거부터 현대까지! 풍성하고 볼거리가 가득한 축제 한마당!!!! 지금까지 동성로 축제 현장이었습니다!

Daegu was the center of medicine since the Chosun dynasty. As Yangnyeong thrived, oriental doctors and herb medicine merchants flocked to Daegu, Heo Jun’s ‘The Mirror of Eastern Medicine’ was published twice by the Gyeongsang provincial government office
Also, medical technology was developed to the extent where a doctor from Yeongnam taught vaccination to a doctor living in Chungcheong-do,
In 1889, Lee Jae Ha established the ‘cowpox clinic’, an institute for preventing smallpox in Daegu, enforced vaccination, and even published a book called ‘Jaeyoungshinpyeon’. This book, which has great significance for being a cowpox book that was published independently at a province, can also be seen at the modern medicine display, Daegu Exhibition.

Behind the introduction of Daegu’s modern medicine are missionaries and Japanese people.
Daegu Jae Jung Won, which is the origin of the current Daegu Dongsan Hospital, is the city’s first modern hospital
This hospital opened its doors in December 1899, two years after Dr. Woodbridge Johnson, an American missionary from the Northern Presbyterian Church of the United States, was dispatched to Daegu.
From this starting point, Jahae Clinic, which is the current Kyeongbuk National University Hospital, was founded in 1910 by the Japanese Residency-General, and from then on, internal medine, surgery, obstetrics, ophthalmology, and dentistry departments were newly installed and modern style medical treatment began.

Afterwards, Jae Jung Won switched from clinic management to a general hospital system by changing its name to Dongsan Christian Hospital in 1911, establishing a leper house in 1913, and constructing an outpatient clinic in 1927.

And then.. In 1933, Daegu Medical Training Institute, a medical professional school, was founded.

Back then, graduates of Daegu Medical Training Institute were given medical licenses without a separate doctor qualification test. The entrance competition ratio of medical schools was 9 to 1 in average. Out of a total of 841 graduates, 274 were Korean, 564 were Japanese, and 3 were Taiwanese. At the time, medical professional schools were only at Seoul, Daegu, and Pyeongyang. ^^

The first day of Daegu Dongseongno Festival! We enjoyed the festival by swooping into the scene. ^^
This year, the Daegu Dongseongno Festival celebrated its 24th anniversary. Many people including not only the younger generation but even old seniors visited Dongseongno.
Various hands-on experience booths filled different areas of Dongseongno! ^^
Our children are deeply immersed in making cookies~~
I even make my own artwork by trying out handicraft. ^^
A busking performance is going on in the middle of Dongseongno street~~
Also, at a different place with lovers, or with friends~ even the elderly.. to make one’s image drawn into a caricature.. bustling with people~
Hearing beautiful sound coming from somewhere.. I followed it and guess what I found!
An ukulele performance~ our ladies.. they wear the same outfit and play the ukulele so beautifully.
And of course, an exciting game booth can’t be missed! Participate in a fun game with Mom and Dad. ^^
On the stage in front of Daegu Department Store, the semifinals of the Daegu Dongseongno Song Festival was going on..
The Dongseongno Song Festival is so famous that one can be given an opportunity to debut as a singer.. Many young people with outstanding talent participated. ^^

Starting from 4:30 PM was the highlight of the Dongseongno Festival! ‘Gyeongsang Governor ‘ was also there.
Gyeongsang Govenor
a reenactment of the newly appointed Gyeongsang governor touring administrative agencies within the province to look over the living conditions of the people.
It is an important event that shows the histrocity of Daegu, where 253 governors held office for 310 years since 160.
The Gyeongsang governor’s procession, which was consisted of as many as 120 people, paraded for a total distance of 2.6km!!
It was so splendid and colorful that it caught the eyes of everyone passing by~~. ^o^
Also, a ceremony for handing over duties between the incoming and outgoing governors, was demonstrated.
