고아빈 Koh Abin (b.1983)
LOVE, LOVER
고려대학교 미술학부 및 홍익대학교 동양화과를 졸업하였다. 갤러리 킹, 목인갤러리, 갤러리 더케이에서 개인전을 선보였으며, 2014년 ‘시대정신과 동양회화의 표현의식’(한원미술관, 서울), 2013년 ‘토끼와 거북이’(양평군립미술관, 양평) 등의 단체전에 참여하였다. 제15회 단원미술제 우수상을 수상하였으며, 목인박물관에 작품이 소장되어 있다. “연애에 관한 형이상학적 개론인 《연애론》의 저자 스탕달은 ‘인간은 다른 어떤 행위보다도 먼저 쾌락을 주는 행위를 하지 않고서는 견디지 못하는 존재이다. 연애는 열병과 같은 것으로서 의지가 조금도 관여하는 일 없이 태어났다가 사라진다.’라고 말한다. 사랑의 열병만큼 인간을 행복하게 해주는 것은 없다. 작품에서 여인은 강렬한 용(龍)의 품 안에서 희망, 설렘, 행복, 즐거움 등 쾌감에 젖어있다. 우리는 언제든 사랑에 빠졌을 때의 감정, 향기, 느낌을 상세히 기억할 수 있다. 그리고 이것으로 평생을 산다.” 장성진 Jang Sungjin

A Microcosm
영화연출을 전공하고 사진으로 전향, 국내∙외에서 활발한 활동을 하고 있다. 뮤지션 앨범작업과 매거진, 광고 등 커머셜 포토그래퍼로서 뿐만 아니라 2013년 갤러리 팩토리에서 첫 번째 개인전을 가졌으며, 전시 사진들을 엮어 ‘Casual Pieces 1’ 사진집을 발간하였다. “작업의 타이틀 ‘A Microcosm’은 제주도 방문시 우연히 찍은 현무암 사진 한 장으로 작업되었으며, 언뜻 보면 달의 표면과 우주 같기도 하여 마이크로코즘이라 이름 지어졌다. 부제는 ‘Trust in Light’로 시가렛과 라이터에 대한 강렬한 애정을 표현하며 불을 지피기 위해 돌멩이를 주머니에 넣고 다닌다는 귀여운 아이디어에서 시작되었다.” |

A gemstone called ‘love’
Jang Sungjin, who practices installation art, graduated from Kaywon University of Art & Design, and participated in two individual exhibitions, group exhibitions, public art, community projects. He puts interest in the lifestyle that contain the awareness and will of people who live the present, and express those stories through various media. “Is there another word like love that is interpreted in such various ways and talked about? A Microcosm
Majored in film directing and changed to photography, is active both domestically and overseas. He is not only a commercial photographer who participates in album projects of musicians, magazines, and advertisment, but also hosted his first individual exhibition at Gallery Factory in 2013, and published a photo book titled ‘Casual Pieces 1’ with the photos from the exhibition. “The title of the project, ‘A Microcosm’, was inspired from a picture of a basalt I took by coincidence when I visited Jeju, and it resembled the surface of a moon and also space, hence I decided to name it microcosm. The subtitle is ‘Trust in Light’, which expresses a strong love toward cigarettes and lighters, and it began from a cute idea of going around with a stone for starting a fire in one’s pocket.” |
