○ 대구·경북이 첨단의료복합단지 유치에 성공했다. 정부 첨단의료복합단지위원회(위원장 : 한승수 국무총리)는 8.10(월) 15:00 정부 중앙청사(19층 영상회의실)에서 열린 제5차 회의에서 대구·경북(신서혁신도시)과 충북(오송)을 첨단의료복합단지로 선정했다.

○ 10개 지역, 14개 시·도가 치열하게 경합한 가운데 대구·경북이 첨단의료복합단지를 유치한 것은 대구·경북이 갖추고 있는 뛰어난 의료인프라 뿐만 아니라 550만 시·도민이 한 마음 한 뜻으로 유치를 추진한 결과이다. 특히 그 동안 자기부상열차, 로봇랜드 등 각종 대형 국책사업에서 유치에 실패하였으나 이번에 첨단의료복합단지 유치에 성공함으로써 시·도민의 사기 제고는 물론 지역경제에 엄청난 파급효과를 갖고 올 것으로 보인다.

○ 첨단의료복합단지 조성을 통하여 정부는 향후 30년간 글로벌 수준의 신약 16개와 첨단의료기기 18개 개발한다는 목표를 세워놓고 있으며 이러한 기대가 현실화될 경우
– 생산증가 : 82.2조원(의료산업 45조원, 여타산업 37.2조원)
– 고용창출 : 38.2만명(의료산업 20.4만명, 여타산업 17.8만명)에 이를 것으로 예측되고 있다.

○ 첨복 조성으로 인한 대구·경북 지역경제에 대한 파급효과 또한 엄청나다. 대구경북연구원이 향후 시설건립 및 R&D투자, 기초연구개발, 및 총 진료비증가(10%)에 따른 파급효과를 종합적으로 분석하여 추정한 결과 생산유발 76조 878억원, 부가가치유발 40조 4,935억원, 고용유발인원 828,412명, 임금유발 27조 8,992억원에 이르는 것으로 나타났다.

○ Daegu-Gyeongbuk won the bidding contest for hosting a high-tech medical complex.
At the 5th General Meeting held at the Central Government Complex (Visual Conference Room on 19th Floor) at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, August 3, High-Tech Medical Complex Committee (Chairman: Prime Minister Sueng-Su Lee) selected Daegu-Gyeongbuk (Shinseo Innovation City) and Choongbuk (Osong) as the sites for a high-tech medical complex.

○ The reason for Daegu-Gyeongbuk winning the bid for hosting a high-tech medical complex among 14 cities/provinces from 10 regions that competed in this intensive bidding contest is not only the result of superb medical infrastructure that Daegu-Gyeongbuk possesses but also is the result of 5.5 million citizens of Daegu-Gyeongbuk working in one heart towards one goal. Especially, Daegu-Gyeongbuk had previously failed in winning various major national projects such as magnetic levitation train and robot land but the success of being the host of a high-tech medical complex is expected to create an enormous ripple effect on not only uplifting the spirits of the citizens of Daegu-Gyeongbuk but also on the regional economy as well.

○ Through the formation of high-tech medical complexes, the Korean government aims at the goal of developing 16 new drugs and 18 new cutting-edge medical instruments to global standards in the next 30 years, and if such expectations come to reality, the following will be achieved:
– Increased Production: 82.2 trillion won (45 trillion won for medical industry and 37.2 trillion won for other industries)
– Job Creation: 3.82 million new jobs (2.04 million for medical industry and 1.78 million for other industries)

○ Ripple effect on the regional economy of Daegu-Gyeongbuk from the formation of a high-tech medical complex would be also enormous. Daegu Gyeongbuk Research Institute has conducted a comprehensive analysis on the possible ripple effect from the facility construction, R&D investment, foundation research development and increase of medical cost (10%), and the result shows production inducement by 76.0878 trillion won, value-added inducement by 40.4935 trillion won, new employment of 828,412 people and wage inducement by 27.8992 trillion won.
