-현재 석유를 대체할 만한 에지는 없다. 우리나라만 해도 80억배럭인가 하는 정도의 석유를 매년 수입하고 있을 만큼 석유는 현재 인류에게 없어서는 안될 자원이다. 이러한 자원을 엄청나게 많이 보유하고 있는 중동은 이러한 점을 이용해서 부 와 권력을 다 잡을 수가 있는데, 이러한 것을 방지하기 위해 미국은 중동을 친미로 만들기 위해 노력하고 있다. 앞에 학자가 이야기한 것처럼 현재는 이러한 이익에 따라 전쟁이 일어나고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 문제는 그것이 강대국의 이익을 위한 것이라는 점이다. 현재 시리아에서는 내전으로 인해 고통받고 있다. 중동에 분 민주화 바람에 힘입어 시리아에서도 독재에 대한 내전이 일어나고 있는데 이 싸움에 미국과 러시아가 개입하고 싶어 하는 이유 또한 송유관을 확보하고 싶어하기 때문이다. 이렇게 강대국이 약소국을 대상으로 전쟁을 벌이는 이유 중에 하나는 이런 경제적인 이유가 있다. 월남전 이후로 일어나는 전쟁은 미국이 관여하는 전쟁은 미국의 금전적 수익과 관련되지 않은 전쟁이 없는 것이 사실이다.

However, causes of wars in the 20th century became more complex as many powerful nations began to act according to their own interests.
The causes of wars include territory conflicts, lack of resources, religions, ideologies, and conflicts over colonies. The countries that suffer from frequent religious wars are Israel and Palestine. Judaic Israel and Islamic Palestine have been involved in wars with each other for many years. It seems Korean war broke out mainly due to the ideological confrontation at the end of the Second World War. USSR and US, the major parties of the alliance who were victorious in the Second World War, established socialism and capitalism for their countries respectively and got involved in an ideological war in Korea.

The reason why US and Russia want to join the war is because they want to secure the oil pipelines. One of the reasons why a superpower joins the war in small nations is economic benefit. Ever since Vietnam War no war was joined by US without economic and financial benefits to their own country.
Another economic benefit in starting a war comes from selling of weapons by the war industries. Selling weapons requires outbreak of wars and that is why superpowers sometimes remain silent about small country’s civil war and provide a cause of a war.
