한글박물관 교육 프로그램 번역(한국어 원본)국립한글박물관은 2014년 10월 개관한 문자전문 박물관으로써 교육의 방향성을 소통과 공감으로 설정하고 세대 간의 소통과 세대 내의 공감을 교육프로그램의 중요한 목표로 설정하고 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 세대 내 소통 프로그램의 하나로 ‘한글보따리’라는 프로그램을 개발하여 개관과 동시에 진행하였고 2015년에도 보완하여 운영할 예정이다.
본 프로그램의 개발 배경은 초등학교에 배정된 창의적 체험활동 수업시간에 활용될 수 있는 지역사회의 수요에 의해 기획되었다. 현재 교육부의 초·중·고등학교 교육과정 정책은 창의적 체험활동이 확대됨에 따라 학교장의 교육과정 편성운영에 대한 자율성이 확대되었다. 따라서 이러한 지역학교에서는 다양한 문화콘텐츠를 활용할 수 있는 박물관교육에 대한 관심이 커지고 있다. 찾아가는 박물관교육 한글보따리는 지역의 초등학교 학급을 대상으로 운영되었고, 창의적 체험활동·국어·사회 교과 수업에서 활용되었다.
프로그램의 개발은 경희대학교 문화예술경영연구소와 국립한글박물관 전문 강사, 신용산초등학교에서 창의적 체험활동을 담당하고 있는 교사와 함께 여러 차례 회의를 거쳐 진행되었다. 우선, 국립한글박물관의 상설전시실 주제인 한글창제와 보급과 활용의 과정을 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 하는 주제를 담으면서 학교 수업과 연계된 내용으로 구성하였다. 수업에 필요한 자료를 개발하기 위해 초등학교 4~6학년 국어·사회과목 교과 내용들을 분석하였다. 교과와 연계된 소장품을 주제로 제작된 학습도구를 활용하여 적극적인 체험을 유도하고 또래 친구들과 생각을 나누며, 학교교육을 보완할 수 있도록 다양한 체험을 경험하는 것이 주요 목적이었다.
이러한 의도에서 교육프로그램에 대한 연구는 기획·개발 및 운영·평가·활용의 과정을 거쳐 4단계로 진행되었다.
첫째, 기획단계에서 박물관 인근 초등학교 4~6학년 학생들을 대상으로 찾아가는 박물관 교육이 개발되었다. 이 프로그램은 한글과 관련된 유물을 아이들이 보고, 듣고, 만지고, 놀이를 통해 체험함으로써 우리 박물관의 전시자료를 흥미롭게 이해할 수 있도록 돕는다.
둘째, 프로그램의 개발은 상설전시의 주제와 전시물의 의미를 이해하며 전시 주제를 대표할 수 있는 내용으로 초등 4~6학년 국어·사회 과목의 교과 분석을 통해 아이들의 수준에 맞는 유물을 선정하여 개발하였다. 운영은 박물관의 지역학교에 학급을 대상으로 실시하였다. 찾아가는 박물관 교육으로서 다양한 학습도구 활용하였는데 보따리 안에는 한글창제 영인본, 심청전의 필사본·목판본·연활자본의 인쇄물 비교 카드, 상황극에서 활용할 수 있는 등장인물 가면으로 구성되었다. 여러 가지 학습도구와 함께 연극교육, 언어교육을 접목하여 다양한 체험을 유도하였다.
셋째, 교육프로그램의 평가는 교육의 주제를 체험하기 위한 다양한 교구재의 활용과 효과성에 대한 연구를 주제로 교사와 청소년을 대상으로 설문지를 비교·분석하는 동시에 교사들을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 평가 결과 학생들은 체험도구를 활용하여 적극적인 참여를 할 수 있는 부분에 흥미를 느꼈고 교사들은 다양한 학습도구와 아이들의 활동에 대한 충분한 피드백이 있었고, 평소 학교에서 이뤄지는 수업과 다른 형태의 수업이어서 인상적이었다는 의견이 있어서 학교교육을 보완할 수 있는 교육으로서 박물관 교육에 관심이 증가하였다.
넷째, 한글보따리 교육에서 교육프로그램 연구 결과물 및 학생들의 상황극 동영상은 박물관 직원들에게 공개되어 박물관 아카이브로 보존될 것이며, 연구 결과물은 박물관 교육, 언어문화 교육, 청소년 교육을 위한 전문적인 학회에서 논의될 예정이다. |
한글박물관 교육 프로그램 번역(영어 번역본)The National Hangeul Museum opened in October 2014. It is dedicated to the exhibition of relics associated with the Korean alphabet called Hangeul. Its education programs are oriented towards communication and empathy. And communication between the generations and empathy within a generation are some of the important goals of its education programs. In this context, the museum developed and implemented a program called ‘Hangeul Bottari(A bundle of Korean characters) to promote communication within a generation when the museum was opened and it is to supplement the program and continue to operate it.
The program was planned to be utilized for the creative activity class at elementary schools to meet the needs of local community. At present, creative activity courses have been expanded to elementary, middle, and high schools according to the educational curriculum set by the Ministry of Education. As a result, the principal of each school has more autonomy in organizing and operating the course. Due to this, schools become more interested in education programs provided by museums that utilize various culture content. Hangeul Bottari, an outreach education program provided by the National Hangeul Museum, has been using creative activities, Korean, and Social Science classes at an elementary school.
The program was developed through many meetings held between the Culture & Art Management Research Center at Kyunghee University, instructors at the National Hangeul Museum, and creative activity teachers at Sinyongsan Elementary School. First, the program contains themes that promote an understanding of creation, dissemination, and utilization of Hangeul, the theme of permanent exhibition of the National Hangeul Museum, in connection with regular courses at school. To develop materials for the program, the content of Korean and Social Science courses for 4th, 5th and 6th graders was analyzed. The main purpose was to develop materials that induce students to experience actively, facilitate students’ idea sharing with each other, and provide various experiences to supplement formal school education by using the educational materials produced in connection with school courses.
With this in mind, the education program went through four stages of planning, development and operation, evaluation, and utilization.
First, in the planning stage, the program was developed targeting 4th, 5th and 6th graders at a nearby elementary school. This program allows students to see, listen, touch, and play with relics related to Hangeul so that they can understand the items exhibited at the museum better.
Second, the program was developed to include relics appropriate for 4th, 5th and 6th graders so that they understand the themes of permanent exhibitions and the meanings of exhibited items and relics that represent the themes of exhibition by analyzing Korean and Social Science courses for 4th, 5th and 6th graders. The program was implemented at a local elementary school near the museum. For the Outreach Museum Education program, various educational materials were used. The bundle contained a photoprint of an original document describing the promulgation of the Korean alphabet, cards comparing different typefaces of the manuscript, woodblocks and lead type books of Simcheongjeon, and masks for situation dramas. The program enables students to have a variety of experiences by combining various educational materials with drama and language education.
Third, for the evaluation of the program, a survey of teachers and students on the effectiveness of various educational materials was conducted and in-depth interviews were conducted with the teachers. The evaluation showed that the students found the program interesting as they were able to participate in the program actively using the educational materials. And the teachers found the class very impressive as a variety of educational materials were used, sufficient feedback on the students’ activities was given, and the class was very different from the regular classes provided by schools. These responses showed that both the teachers and students are interested in the museum program as a program that supplements formal school education.
Fourth, the results of the study on the Hangeul Bottari and the video of situation dramas by students will be preserved in the museum archive, and the results of the study will be presented at academic conferences on museum education, language and culture education, and education for adolescents. |
