“작가는 사진을 주요 매체로 사용하면서 사진 이미지와 텍스트를 이용해 수행성과 참여가 요구되는 작업들을 보여주고 있다. 주요 작업들은 스냅사진을 촬영해 아카이브를 만들고 그 아카이브들을 다양한 형태와 갈래로 제시한다. 이번 지포라이터 작업은 스냅사진 연작인 ‘실패한 다큐멘터리’ 아카이브에서 사랑과 욕망에 관한 이미지 중 하나를 골라 제작하였다. 마치 말하는 입과 같은 남자의 성기 이미지는 욕망을 한 번 소진 한 후 이어지는 시시콜콜한 대화를 연상케 하며 익살스러운 상황을 보여준다.” 박희진 Park Heejin

“The artist uses photos as the main medium and uses photos and text to show projects that require performance and participation. Major projects take snapshots, create archives, and present those archives into various shapes and branches. This zippo lighter project was created by choosing an image on love and desire from the archive of the ‘Failed Documentary’, a snapshot series. The image of the man’s sexual organ, which resembles a talking mouth, shows a humorous situation that suggests a conversation that follows after exhausting desire.” Park Heejin

A night where things appear
“Everything that exists in the world disappears. The emotion we call love is something that disappears in a certain relationship. However, I think that disappearing is not a complete extinction but rather a continuation of existing by leaving traces in whatever form. In other words, extinction and production coexists in love like both sides of a coin. We create traces of love on top of a zippo lighter MDF, which is cold but can always light a hot fire, and materialize charcoal and conte as basic erasing material, and afterwards the traces are drawn, erased, stacked, and covered as I sensed, producing various trace blobs of abstract shapes.” |
