1966년 4월 1일 대구시 중구 포정동 (현재 경상감영공원)에서 북구 산격동 부지로 이전한 경상북도 청사는 산을 등지고 신천을 바라보는 배산임수(背山臨水)의 명당이다. 특히 당시 최첨단 설계기법이 동원된 본 청사는 규모나 형식면에 있어 관공서 건축의 대표작으로 손꼽혔다.

The North Gyeongsang Province Government Complex moved on April 1st, 1966 from Pojeong Dong Jung-gu, Daegu (present day Gyeongsang Provincial Park) to a plot in Buk-gu Sangyeok Dong ideally situated with the mountains in the background and a river flowing in the foreground. In particular the advanced design techniques that were applied could be considered one of the greatest works of architecture in scale and form for a government complex .
