중앙대학교 예술대학 한국화과 및 동대학원 회화과를 졸업하였다. 1998년 갤러리 보다에서 첫 개인전을 시작으로 갤러리가이아, 인사아트센터, 갤러리 쌈지 등에서 개인전을 선보였으며 2014년 ‘춘야희우-봄날의 반가운 손님’(갤러리 아트앤썸머, 부산), 2013년 ‘예술가의 선물’(갤러리 세인, 서울) 등 다수의 단체전에 참여하였다. 국립현대미술관 미술은행, 가송문화재단에 작품이 소장되어 있다. 한지에 먹과 채색을 사용해 주저 없이 그려나가는 순수하고 정직한 어린 아이와 같은 선으로 작가가 정겹게 만들어낸 의미 있는 대화는 보는 이에게 ‘마음의 눈으로 보여질 수 있는’ 내적 울림으로 지각된다.

홍익대학교 미술대학 시각디자인과를 졸업하였다. SBS, 인천국제공항, 대교방송, 미스터피자 등과 캐릭터 디자인인 작업을 진행하였고, 2009년 중국 베이징 798 space에서 개인전 및 2013년 ‘Buy Buy Love’(갤러리 아트사이드, 서울), 2012년 ‘HUG전’(장흥아트파크, 양주) 등의 기획전, 2008년 서울디자인올림픽, 2007년 서울디자인위크 등의 디자인 전시에 참여하였다. 작가의 ‘design play’는 캐릭터에 여러 이야기를 담는 것이다. 우리가 살아가면서 느끼는 여러 감정들을 담아 군더더기 없이 심플하게 디자인된 엉뚱하지만 재치 있는 캐릭터를 통해 풀어내어 희망과 용기를 주고 건조한 삶에 수분을 공급해준다.

서울대학교 미술대학 서양화과 및 동대학원을 졸업하였다. 한국∙미국∙네덜란드 등에서 10회의 개인전, 싱가포르∙홍콩∙대만∙아랍에미리트 등 국내∙외 다수의 단체전 및 아트페어에 참여하였다. 전국대학미전 대상, 창작예술협회 공모전 금상을 수상하였으며 서울시립미술관, 국립현대미술관 미술은행에 작품이 소장되어 있다. “Instant Landscape(순간적 풍경)은 자연과 문명, 과거와 현재, 동양과 서양 등 서로 상이한 소재들을 풍경이라는 구조에 뒤섞어 새로운 공간을 재현하고자 하였다. 풍경이라는 가장 유기적이고 자연스러운 구조에 상이한 소재를 담기 위해서는 사물의 고유한 기능과 사회적 의미를 제거해야 한다. 나는 이것을 탈의미화, 탈사회화라고 한다. 지포라이터 공간에 자연, 동물, 동양, 과거라는 서로 다른 소재들을 적용하였다. 서로 다른 것들이 화학적 반응을 일으켜 우리에게 새로운 해석을 가능하게 한다. 라이터가 하나의 아름다운 동양적 공간으로 느껴지게 되고, 다시 라이터의 동양적 공간은 인간이 영원히 소유하고자 하는 ‘불’의 욕망을 담아내는 지포의 고유 명사로 순환되는 구조를 가지게 된다.” 김범수 Kim Bumsu (b.1965)
홍익대학교 미술대학 조소과 및 스쿨 오브 비쥬얼 아트 석사과정을 졸업하였다. 개인전 10회 및 2014년 당인리 아트 서비스(갤러리JJ, 서울), 2013년 ‘휘황찬란-라이트 아트展’(포항시립미술관, 포항) 등 다수의 단체전에 참여하였으며 가나 장흥아뜰리에, 갤러리 박영 스튜디오, 싱가포르 Sculpture Square’s Artist Residency’ 등 국내∙외 레지던스 프로그램 입주작가로 선정되었다. 국립현대미술관 미술은행, CJ문화재단, 서울아산병원, 삼성물산, 서울시립미술관 등에 작품이 소장되어 있다. 작가는 다양한 종류의 영화필름에 기록된 이미지들을 재편집한다. 영화필름은 다양한 역사와 배경, 문화 그리고 수많은 사람들의 이야기가 담겨 있으며, 작가는 이러한 필름에 새겨진 기억들과 교감하고 강렬한 영감을 받아 황홀한 패턴이나 현상을 창조해낸다.
“지포라이터를 처음 본 순간 오래 전 생일선물로 받았던 때가 생각났다. 전갈의 모양이 조각되어진 은색의 지포라이터… 그 후에도 여러 종류의 지포라이터를 갖게 되었지만, 지금도 그녀의 것만이 기억에 뚜렷하다. 아마도 그녀의 별자리가 전갈자리였던 것으로 기억난다.” 김용보 Kim Yongbo (b.1968)
서원대학교 예술대학 조소과 졸업 및 경희대학교 일반대학원 미술학과를 졸업하였다. 1996년 최갤러리에서 첫 개인전을 시작으로 삼현갤러리, 서울시립미술관분관, 조흥문화갤러리 등에서 개인전을 선보였으며, 80여 회의 단체전에 참여하였다. 작가는 인간의 정서를 표현함에 있어 색과 형의 단순화를 통한 현대인의 비인간적 이미지를 시각화시키고 있다. 검은 색조의 사용은 불안감, 적막감, 고독, 소외, 위기감 등 현대사회가 가지고 있는 부정적인 측면, 인간의 심리적인 무게감을 강조하기 위한 것이다.
“사랑은 소리로 반응한다. 침묵에 대하여 소리로 반응하고 울림과 진동으로 표현되며 촉감으로 전이된다. 소리가 일정한 양식과 음률을 갖게 된 때부터 악기는 소리의 중요한 표현도구였고 그 주제의 대부분은 ‘사랑의 세레나데’였다. 영원한 사랑은 침묵하지 않고 소리로 반응한다. 그래서 사랑의 다른 이름은 소리이다.” 김유정 Kim Yujung (b.1974)
단국대학교 예술대학 서양화과 및 고려대학교 교육대학원 미술교육과, 단국대학교 서양화과 박사과정을 졸업하였다. 개인전 12회 및 2014년 ‘INSIGHT’(갤러리192, 서울), 2013년 ‘월로 씨의 휴가’(송원아트센터, 서울) 등 다수의 단체전에 참여하였으며 2013년 겸재정선 내일의 작가상 수상, 2009년 소마미술관 드로잉센터 아카이브 등록작가로 선정되었다. 인천문화재단 미술은행, OCI미술관, 신세계갤러리, 제일화재 등 다수의 기관에서 작품을 소장하고 있다. “지포라이터를 벽 삼아서 프레스코 기법으로 표현하였다. 회벽 위에 각인된 표면은 ‘스톡-변치않는 사랑’, ‘도라지-영원한 사랑’, ‘히아신스(백색)-사랑이 주는 행복’, ‘팔레놉시스-당신을 사랑합니다’, ‘스타티스-영원한 사랑’, ‘제비꽃(백색)-순수한 사랑’ 등 사랑의 꽃말을 담은 의미 있는 식물들이다. 화분에서 자라는 식물은 나와 너의 관계를 상징하거나, 사랑에 대한 나의 예의 혹은 애티튜드를 상징한다. 나는 잊지 않고, 꾸준히, 관심을 갖고 너를 보살핀다. 화분은 절대적 수동성의 상징이다. 프레스코의 영원한 생명력은 오랜 역사를 담은 지포라이터를 사랑하는 소중한 사람들을 위한 것이다.” |

Studied Korean painting at Chung-Ang University College of Arts and painting at the graduate school of the same university. Since his first exhibition at Gallery Boda in 1998, he has held individual exhibitions at Gallery Gaia, Insight Center, Gallery Ssamji and participated in numerous group exhibitions such as ‘Chun Ya Hee Woo – A Pleasant Guest on a Spring Day’(Gallery Art and Summer, Busan) in 2014 and ‘The Artist’s Gift’(Gallery Saine, Seoul) in 2013. His works are displayed at the Art Bank of the National Museum of Contemporary Art and Gasong Foundation. With lines like a pure and honest child, drawn without hesitation and using ink and paining on hanji, the conversation that the artist gracefully made is perceived by viewers as an internal echo ‘that can be seen with the mind’s eye’.

Hosted an individual exhibition at Beijing 798 space in 2009 and participated in exhibitions such as ‘Buy Buy Love’(Gallery Artside, Seoul) in 2013, ‘HUG Exhibition’(Jangheung Art Park, Yangju) in 2012, and design exhibitions like Seoul Design Olympic in 2008 and Seoul Design Week in 2007. The artist’s ‘design play’ is to place various stories in a character. By putting different emotions that we feel, the artist unravels them through simply designed, quirky but witty characters and gives hope and courage to a dry life.

Hosted ten individual exhibitions in Korea∙United States∙Holland, and participated in numerous domestic∙foreign group exhibitions and art fairs in Singapore∙Hong Kong∙Taiwan∙Arab Emirates. Received the grand prize at the National College Art Competition 전국대학미전, and gold prize at the Creative Art Assocation창작예술협회 and his works are displayed at the Seoul Museum of Arts, and the Art Bank of the National Museum of Contemporary Art. “Instant Landscape tried to replicate a new space by mixing different materials like nature and civilization, past and present, oriental and western into a landscape. In order to put different materials in the most organic and natural structure like a landscape, the unique functionalities and social meaning of an object must not be present. I refer to this as removing meaning and removing society. Different materials such as nature, animal, oriental, past are applied in the zippo lighter space. The different things create a chemical reaction and enable a new interpretation for us. The lighter is perceived as a beautiful oriental space, which in turn becomes a unique concept of zippo, containing the desire of ‘fire’ which men strive to possess eternally.” Kim Bumsu (b.1965)

Hosted ten individual exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions such as Dangin-ri Art Service in 2014 (Gallery JJ, Seoul), ‘휘황찬란-Light Art 展’(Pohang Museum of Art, Pohang) in 2013, and was selected as an artist-in-residence for various residency programs such as Gana Jangheung Atelier, Gallery Park Young Studio, Singapore Sculpture Square’s Artist Residency’. His works are displayed at the National Contemporary Art Museum Art Bank, CJ Culture Foundation, Seoul Asan Hospital, Samsung C&T, and Seoul Museum of Art. The artist re-edits the images recorded in various types of movie films. These films contain various history and background, culture and stories of countless people, and the artist communes with the memories carved in these films, receives a strong inspiration, and creates an entrancing pattern or phenomenon.
“When I first saw a zippo lighter, I remember getting one as a birthday present a long time ago. It was a silver zippo lighter that had the shape of a scorpion carved on it… While I possessed various types of lighters afterward, only that lighter, the one she gave me, is still clear in my memories. Studied sculpture at Seowon University College of Arts and art at the graduate school of Kyunghee University. Since his first individual exhibition at the Choi Gallery in 1996, he has hosted individual galleries at Samhyun Gallery, Seoul Museum of Art annex, Joheung Gallery, and participated in eighty group exhibitions. In expressing human emotion, the artist visualizes the inhumane imagery of modern people by simplifying color and shape. The use of black color is to emphasize the negative aspects of modern society such as instability, loneliness, solitude, isolation, sense of crisis, and psychological weight of men.
“Love reacts with sound. It reacts with sound to silence and expressed with echos and vibration and transmitted with touch. From the moment when sound had a certain type and melody, instruments were important tools of expression for sound and most of its theme was ‘serenade of love’. Received the Gyeomjae Jeongseon Artist of Tomorrow award, and selected as a registered artist of the SOMA drawing center archive in 2009. Works are displayed at Incheon Culture Foundation Art Bank, OCI Museum of Art, Shinsege Gallery, and First Fire Insurance. “I used the fresco method using the zippo lighter as a wall. The surface carved on top of the plastered wall are meaningful plants with flower language ‘stock-everlasting love’, ‘bellflower-eternal love’, ‘hyacinth(white)-happiness that love gives’, ‘phalaenopsis- I love you’, ‘statice-eternal love’, ‘violet(white)-pure love’. A plant that grows from a pot symbolizes the relationship between you and me, or my respect or attitude toward love. I do not forget, and continuously care for you. A pot is absolutely a symbol of passiveness. The eternal vitality of fresco is for precious people who love zippo lighter with its rich history.” |
