낭만주의 번역(한국어 원본)19세기 낭만주의 음악은 18세기의 고전주의에서 강조한 형식미에서 탈피하여 개인의 감정에 충실하고 표현의 다양성을 지니게 된다. 이러면서 낭만주의 음악은 시대적 상황의 변화와 더불어 음악을 비롯한 각 예술이 서로 융합되는 현상이 일어나게 되고 그 중에서도 음악과 문학의 결합이 가장 두드러지게 일어나게 되었다.
이러한 음악과 문학의 결합을 작품에 가장 잘 표현한 작곡가는 로베르트 슈만을 꼽을 수 있겠다. 슈만은 Jean Paul Richter 와 E. T. A. Hoffmann 의 소설이나 시에서 영향을 받아 그의 음악에 문학적인 요소를 반영하였으며, 비평가로서도 활동한 슈만은 자신의 성격을 대변하기 위해 플로레스탄(Florestan) 과 오이제비우스(Eusebius) 라는 가상의 인물을 만들어서 자신의 음악에 반영하기도 하였다.
본 논문에서 연구하고자 하는 슈만의 피아노 작품 「Kreisleriana Op.16」은 E. T. A. Hoffmann 의 소설「숫고양이 무어의 인생관(The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr)」에서 영감을 받아 작곡된 곡이다.
슈만의「Kreisleriana Op.16」와 E. T. A. Hoffmann 의 소설간에는 내용과 구조적인 면에서 유기적인 연관성이 뚜렷이 나타나며, 소설의 주인공인 악장 크라이슬러의 이중성을 표현하는 대조적인 부분들은 슈만이 만든 가상인물 오이제비우스와 플로레스탄의 성격으로 음악에 묘사하고 있는데, 이는 자기 자신의 모습을 반영하고 있는 것이다.
작품에서 볼 수 있는 모든 외적인 표현은 그 자체로서 문학성을 함축하고 있으며, 이러한 외적인 표현을 바탕으로 궁극적으로는 「Kreisleriana Op.16」의 음악적인 이해를 높이고자 하였다. |
낭만주의 번역(영어 번역본)The 19th century’s romanticist music broke out from the fixed form of classic era of 18th century. It became more personally attached with more variety of expressions. So the music from the romantic era started to integrate with other forms of art including music itself. Integration between music and literature was most prominent.
Robert Schumann was among the leading musicians who most well expressed such a trend of the era. Schumann was influenced by Jean Paul Richter and E. T. A. Hoffmann’s novels and poems and reflected such literary factors into his work. Schumann, who also worked as a critic, created imaginary characters Florestan and Eusebius in order to defend his own personal character by reflecting these characters to his work.
This Schumann’s piano composition that is the subject of this study, “Kreisleriana Op.16” was inspired by E. T. A. Hoffmann’s “The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr”.
Schumann’s “Kreisleriana Op.16” and E. T. A. Hoffmann’s writing has a very intimate relationship in structure, and the novel’s main character, Chrysler’s double standard is also expressed by Schumann in his work through his characters – Florestan and Eusebius, through which he also reflects his own personal character.
The direct expression that can be seen from his work implies literary characteristics. And based on such direct expressions, the understanding about “Kreisleriana Op.16” will be approached. |
